Tulum is an ideal location for a group of friends seeking a fun time. Tulum boasts beautiful beaches. It has a fun nightlife and is close to the 5th World Wonder. Tulum is a great destination that offers a little bit of everything. Throughout my whole stay, I felt safe and found it relatively easy to get around with very little Spanish.
Accommodations
Traveling with a group of 4 and staying in a hostel was PERFECT for our group. Everyone had their own bed, and we had a private ensuite just for the four of us. We were able to enjoy our own private space along with the benefits that come with staying at a hostel. This hostel had events almost every day, such as mixology classes, karaoke nights, and more. Overall, the people there were pretty talkative. Even if you were traveling solo, I’m sure you would end up meeting someone cool.
Things to Do
Chichen Itza & Cenote Day Trip

I will admit it was hard finding day trips that actually pick you up in Tulum. So, this was definitely a rare find in my research. I don’t want to worry about where to go and how to get there on group trips. It’s the complete opposite of what I want to do. This tour had reliable transportation that picked us up close to the hostel. It gave us a tour of Chichen Itza and fed us lunch. The tour also covered entry into a beautiful cenote and provided time to roam around a colonial city in Yucatan. This was an all-day activity. It left us exhausted, but happy we did it. We were even happier that the only logistical thing we had to worry about was making it to the meeting point on time.
Experience Tulum Night Life
If there is one thing that surprised me, it was that Tulum knows how to party. If you go on the weekend, be sure to dedicate at least one night to going out. If you are in your early 20s, seeking a carefree night, you should start your night at the Straw Hat Hostel’s bar. This reminds me of a Jersey Shore vibe. You come as you are and even dance on tabletops. The vibe there is just living life and having a good time. After going to Straw Hat, it is a must to continue the night at the best after-party spot, Santino Nightclub. This place doesn’t close until early in the morning, and you will be dancing the night away. If you are looking for a grown and sexy vibe, I would recommend following @blackintulum on Instagram to stay informed on any circumstances they might be throwing during your stay.
Spend a day at a beach club

Delek Tulum was a great way to end the trip. The decor was breathtaking and made for a relaxing day. The best part was that there wasn’t any entrance fee. The only thing that was asked of us was to purchase at least one drink and one food item. The pool had a swim-up bar, and the beach was beautiful. If you want to experience a bit of luxury during your Tulum trip, this is definitely an affordable way to do it.
Food to Try
Asado Argentino

To this day, I still think about these tacos from Asado Argentino. These are the best tacos I have EVER had in my life. We literally ate these tacos once a day, minimum (sometimes even twice in a day).
other food recs
Sometimes the camera doesn’t get to eat first. Here are places we ate at that I would recommend. Unfortunately, I was too excited for the food to take pictures.
- Botanica Garden Café (cash only)
- Khyra Tulum
- Cafeina
