Live mo life with me

Exploring Paris solo

Growing up, I was the kid who dreamed about Paris. I had a huge poster in my room with the Eiffel Tower and always imagined myself visiting the city one day. In the spirit of healing my inner child, the timing felt right, and I decided to go solo. I am at a point in my life where being alone won’t stop me from seeing the world. Paris is a popular solo travel destination, and after experiencing it on my own terms, I can truly say it lived up to every dream.

Accommodations

Citizen M Gare Lyon

This hotel had a tech twist, where the iPad let you control everything from the temperature to the mood lighting with just a tap. The location couldn’t have been better. It was about a 5-minute walk to a Paris Metro stop and the train station. This made it super convenient for continuing my travels throughout Europe. The staff was nice, and the hotel was super cute and clean. While the room was compact, it was thoughtfully designed and felt just right for solo travelers like me.

Things to Do

Musée du Louvre

Can you really say you’ve been to Paris if you haven’t visited the Louvre? This world-famous museum is an absolute must-see. For a guided experience at your own pace, I highly recommend trying an audio tour. I loved using the free Rick Steves audio guide. It was easy to follow and let me explore at my leisure, which was perfect for pausing to take all the photos I wanted. The tour includes both downloadable audio and a helpful map, making it super convenient. I spent about two and a half hours wandering the galleries, and the time flew by. I would suggest arriving right when the museum opens and head straight to the Mona Lisa to beat the crowds and skip the long lines.

Eiffel Tower

I just had to visit the Eiffel Tower twice. I needed the late-night sparkling experience as well as the daytime vibes. The Eiffel Tower is pretty accessible via the Paris Metro, which is how I got there at night and felt comfortable navigating alone. For my daytime visit, I got to the Eiffel Tower via the Seine River through a hop-on, hop-off sightseeing cruise. I enjoyed my time cruising through the seine river and seeing different Paris highlights from the water. This cruise was not only a chill activity for my Paris itinerary but also served as a different form of transportation for the day.

La Galerie Dior

If you are a fashion lover, La Galerie Dior will not disappoint. I enjoyed my experience overall, especially seeing how a design goes from a simple sketch to a stunning finished gown. As someone who loves fashion and the creative process behind it, I found Christian Dior’s story super interesting, and getting to see those gorgeous dresses up close was amazing. The museum wasn’t too crowded when I went, which was a nice surprise. That said, if you’re hoping to get a photo on the spiral staircase, be ready to wait a little. I’d also recommend buying your tickets ahead of time so you can skip the line and head straight in.

Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann

The architecture of this mall is gorgeous. Even if you’re not planning to shop, I’d still recommend stopping by just to take it all in. One of the best parts? The rooftop terrace offers incredible panoramic views of Paris, and it’s completely free to access. Just make sure you head to the Galeries Lafayette on Boulevard Haussmann, as there are a few locations in Paris, but this is the one with the iconic rooftop view.

Wall of Love

The Wall of Love is such a charming little spot in Paris. Yes, it’s literally just a wall but the message behind it, with “I love you” written in over 250 languages, makes it a memorable place to see if you have the time. It happened to be just a short walk from a restaurant I had planned to visit, so it fit perfectly into my day. If you’re already in the Montmartre area or looking for something quick and unique to add to your itinerary, this is a lovely stop.

I think the hype around solo traveling in Paris is worth it. I didn’t experience any issues as someone who speaks zero French, and the number of activities to do is endless.
